Synopsis
在北英格兰平民区某幢房子里，住着一个沉默寡言、内向羞涩的少女（Jane Horrocks 饰）。自从疼爱她的父亲去世后，她变得愈加沉默，每天躲在自己的房间内，听父亲留下的唱片；与之相对，她的母亲玛丽（Brenda Blethyn 饰）则是个粗鲁肤浅的女人，她看不惯女儿沉默的样子，因此给女儿取了个绰号——小嗓门。
