Synopsis
1969年11月30日，无产阶级革命家陶铸逝世，享年61岁。陶铸是湖南祁阳人，1926年加入中国共产党。参加了南昌起义、广州起义。新中国成立后历任中共中央华南分局书记兼华南军区第二政委、广东省省长、广东省委第一书记，中共中央中南局第一书记兼广州军区政委，国务院副总理，中共中央书记处常务书记，中央宣传部部长，中共八届中央政治局常委。 本剧浓缩了陶铸同志短暂而闪亮的一生，再现了陶铸同志浓厚的亲情、乡情，严于律已、心系人民群众的高尚风格，以及光辉的共产党人形象。
