Synopsis
人称“贝比”的乔治•赫尔曼•罗斯，是美国战前20年间最著名的传奇棒球手。他从小顽劣，却因出色的棒球天赋得到Brother Mathias（James Cromwell 饰）提携，最终从教会男子学校走入职业棒球场。 成年后的贝比（John Goodman 约翰•古德曼 饰）最早效力于波士顿红袜队，他肥胖高大的体型似乎与速度和激情的棒球全不搭调，但其招牌式的全垒打则让赛场内的观众一次次痴迷，让对手闻风丧胆。他爱上了美丽的女子海伦（Trini Alvarado 饰），然而婚姻却并非一帆风顺。狂放的贝比希望退居二线，成为棒球队经理，然几番周折，发现一切成空，而属于自己的时代则正渐渐远去……
