Synopsis
弗朗索瓦（格利高里·派克 Gregory Peck 饰）是一名虔诚的基督教徒，同时也是一名年轻的传教士。在责任感和使命感的驱使之下，他千里迢迢只身一人来到了中国，决定在这片陌生的国土上播撒基督教的种子。然而，这过程比他想象的要艰难的多，面对一群语言不通，完全没有接受过基督教文化洗礼的中国人，弗朗索瓦感到力不从心。 然而，他并没有就此放弃，在贫穷，疾病和敌意之中，他一次又一次的跌倒，一次又一次的重新爬起来，终于，在数年之后，弗朗索瓦身后有了一群追随他的信徒，他凭借着自己的坚持和努力，终于在中国的大地上为基督教开拓出了一片处女地。
