Synopsis
一批不同地域不同背景的大陆人在九七之后各怀心事来到香港，现实的困顿令他们游走在城市的边缘，只能做香港城的弃民，眼见的繁华宛如无法碰触的美丽梦境。 阿英（王宁）是持短期护照的妓女，深陷在本可当驻港解放军但不幸死去的男友的回忆里，将卖淫当作一种迅速捞钱的手段。阿燕（吕丽萍）曾是舞蹈老师，一场车祸令她失去跳舞的能力和儿子，到港后只能在酒楼当电梯小姐，光辉与凄惨的对照令她把自己锁起。阿健（梁家辉）是阿燕的同居男友，靠经营一家色情录像带店过活，生活对他只是混日子，因此同阿燕在一起也只是求生活上有个依靠。“排骨仔（周智生）”是电梯维修员，沉默内向，生活的枯燥乏味令他沉迷于电台call-in和色情场所中，别无他好。
