Synopsis
本片描述了李渊在李世民和李建成的力促下，终于顺应潮流，在太原举义起事，与此同时隋炀帝在江都被叛乱的禁军俘获，从而将一个大一统的国家搞得四分五裂，最后在全国混战中走向末路的故事。该片将李世民置于中心位置，赋予其察识和顺应历史潮流的卓越品格，并以他本人阐发过的“民本”思想贯彻始终，既有大开大阖的战争场面，也有细腻温婉的情感叙说，至于隋炀帝暴政、义军蜂起、宇文化及篡位等重大历史事件无不严格依照史实，还原历史情境，看点十足。
