Synopsis
卡罗尔（布莱思·丹纳BlytheDanner饰）曾是一位小有名气的歌手，在舞台上享受着万众瞩目的光彩。如今，年近七十的她早已无人问津，丈夫去世后就一直过着形单影只离群索居的生活。卡罗尔一直活在丈夫去世的阴影中，恐惧着失去和死亡，和女儿凯瑟琳（玛琳·阿克曼MalinAkerman饰）之间的关系亦十分紧张。就在卡罗尔最困顿的时候，是她的好友乔治娜（琼·斯奎布JuneSquibb饰）、莎莉（雷亚·普尔曼RheaPerlman饰）和罗娜（玛丽·凯·普莱斯MaryKayPlace饰）一直陪伴和鼓励着她。在朋友们的影响下，卡罗尔渐渐找回了开启新生活的信心，并先后结识了劳埃德（马丁·斯塔尔MartinStarr饰）和比尔（山姆·艾里奥特SamElliott饰）两名男子。
