Synopsis
因怀才不遇而叹息、讨厌僧人的青年了顕，将希望寄托在即将要为出生的孩子上。但一起不幸的事故将了顕的一切都夺走了。而莲如上人遇到了这位过着自暴自弃的日子，在黑暗中痛苦挣扎的了顕。他将亲鸾圣人「为何而生」的答案明确的向他揭示。化解了心中迷津的了顕成为了莲如上人的弟子。参拜者增加的本愿寺遭到了其他宗派的怀恨。莲如上人与了顕来到了京都寻找新的布教之地，到达了北陸的吉崎……
