Synopsis
北宋年间，朝中宦官持政，民间妖物横行。汴梁城中，邪教丛生，其中最大势力名为“外九流”。由包拯、展昭、公孙策带领的开封府衙，明断人案，暗中审理妖案，以维持世态平衡。包拯将逼死生父的孙贤涛斩首，得罪其义父大内陈公公。城南突发命案，展昭前去探查，遇捕头腾玉，腾玉以人案思维推理案情，却被展昭告知明为人案，实则妖物作祟。腾玉跟随展昭进入真正的鬼市，狐妖莹儿好意提醒展昭，此案背后势力庞大，难以撼动。展昭以命换物，用换得的长柄灯笼引来犯下命案的妖物。邪教“外九流”的千面优伶假扮公孙策，杀害司徒阳，试图毒害包拯被包拯识破，与展昭协力将千面优伶斩首，而公孙策生死不明，外九流正筹划着更庞大的阴谋，眼见不一定为实，一切似乎都隐藏在迷雾中……
